Dean Harrison Celebrates 50 Years at
Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon
Dean Harrison celebrates his 50th year at Barge, Waggoner,
Sumner and Cannon, Inc., this year.
Harrison joined the firm in 1966, with an intention only to
stay temporarily at Barge Waggoner before his enlistment papers
in the U.S. Navy became official. His first assignment was on a
survey crew, when he first learned that enlistment would not take
place. A few years later, in 1969, Barge Waggoner started its civil
engineering work at Opryland USA. Harrison was then moved to
inspection over construction.
The past half century has given Harrison experience in the design, construction,
operation, and maintenance of water treatment and distribution facilities. Currently,
Harrison is responsible for Barge Waggoner’s potable water tank inspection program
that involves the visual evaluation of existing water tanks, non-destructive testing,
lead paint evaluations, and related rehabilitation and repair projects.
“As a young engineer growing up under Dean’s guidance, you quickly realize
his priorities - relationship with God, family - particularly his grandkids - and
BWSC,” says Bob Higgins, President and CEO. “He absolutely works his hardest each
day to represent all three of those so well. It is amazing what he can get accomplished
each week and he just doesn’t slow down.”
Harrison was recognized earlier this year at the firm’s Annual Stockholders’
Meeting and Employee Banquet for five decades of exceptional service to his work,
coworkers, and clients.
