MANY THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS WHO MADE 2017 A SUCCESS interior is clad from floor to ceiling with Tennessee

technology grew and by 1917 Knoxville started using
BRONZE – Helac Corporation disinfection to treat the water. Today, the Knoxville
Utilities Board Pump Station and Filtration Plant has
43 online instruments and uses 70,000-100,000 gallons
for a filter wash. The modern lab equipment and the
bank of computers for monitoring the equipment look
out of place in the 90-year-old building but it is still
serving the city well. The Knoxville Utilities Board
Pump Station and Filtration Plant is designated as an
American Water Landmark, Significant in the History
of Public Water Supply, by the American Water Works
Association.
Golf Outing
Unfortunately, even the dedicated golfers couldn’t
endure the cold, wind, and rain of the morning.
So the Annual Golf Tournament, hosted by Three
Ridges Golf Course, was cancelled due to weather.
But thankfully, the skies cleared up for the rest of the
week.
YP Events
The Young Professionals helped raise money through
donations and raffled off a Yeti® cooler donated by
FORCE America, Inc. A check for $500 was presented
to Emerald Youth Foundation, which for more than
25 years has been working to support Knoxville’s
youth and prepare generations of godly community
leaders. They are responding to the pronounced gaps
in youth services and outcomes for the 12,000 young
people in our city neighborhoods through: faith and
relationships, learning, and health activities. This
charity has a special place in the fabric of Knoxville,
especially since a few of the local Public Works
employees work with the non-profit organization to
coach sports such as soccer and basketball.
Rodeo, Host Branch Reception, and Recreation
City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero welcomed
the attendees and exhibitors to Knoxville. Awards
were presented to the Equipment Rodeo winners
and Chattanooga took the Overall Best Team Trophy
home for the year (see story on page 10). Following
the awards, everyone was invited to join the Young
Professionals to socialize at the Windows on the Park
Lounge.
LDA Engineering capped off the night by hosting a
few hours of bowling, with refreshments, at Maple Hall
on Gay Street in downtown Knoxville. Maple Hall is a
beautiful venue, and a number of Conference attendees
took the opportunity to throw a few strikes (and a few
gutter balls) before calling it a day.
