Collection Systems Manager

Hallsdale-Powell Utility District has been serving their community since 1954. As members of this community,
HPUD General Manager, Darren Cardwell, and his team make these relationships a priority and strive daily
to optimize their customer experience. HPUD has improved operations with enhanced efficiencies and new
facilities. However, much of their community engagement is attributed to their focus on personal touch. The
Utility District has changed internal processes so customers can talk to an actual person – not a machine.
They have partnered with local elementary schools to teach Water on Wheels, which educates 3rd and 4th
graders about clean water and the role of the utility district. For their adult citizens, they established their
Citizens Academy which allows participants to tour HPUD facilities, learn more about the industry and meet
the decision makers.

In order to support their 600 miles of water and 400 miles of sewer, Hallsdale-Powell relies upon their repairs
and construction crews and their heavy equipment fleet. Cody Humphrey, Distribution and Collection Systems
Manager, states, “We use our Cat equipment on a daily basis in all conditions. Cat equipment has proven
its durability to us over time, which makes it a reliable and dependable product. These qualities prove to be
important when it is time to get the job done.” Utilizing their six Cat excavators ranging from a 304CCR to a
320CL, HPUD depends on their equipment’s reliability to respond quickly to their customers’ needs.
