TCAPWA EVENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS
APWA Roger Clark Leadership Conference ByCalvinClifton
This biennial event is named in honor of the late Roger Clark who was Public
Works Director in Kingsport at the time of his passing. Roger was a past-
president of the TCAPWA and was a great supporter of the Chapter. I had the
pleasure of knowing and working with Roger very early in my career.
The conference rotates between states in Region III and is open to
chapter leaders and those interested in becoming a chapter leader in
Regions III and IV.
In 2016, the conference will be held in Chattanooga at the
DoubleTree Hotel - Downtown and hosted by Tennessee Chapter
Delegate, Calvin Clifton, and Region III Director, Bo Mills. The
dates are Thursday and Friday, April 7-8. On Thursday evening, the
attendees will meet for an ice-breaker reception and dinner followed
by a full day of leadership and chapter building activities on Friday.
The event will wrap up midafternoon on Friday.
Registration is limited to 40, so if you’re interested, please contact
an officer or branch director for more information or contact me at
cdclifton@matternandcraig.com.
TCAPWA Awards Nominations
Though the September deadline is months away, it is not too early to start thinking about nominations for the seven TCAPWA
awards that will be presented at the annual conference in November. The following awards are available: TCAPWA Project of the Year;
Edward C. Archer Young Public Works Leader of the Year; Frank Kirk Meritorious Service Award; W. Larry Eddins Award; Roger
Clark Award; Charles Walter Nichols Award; and the Award of Merit. For a description and requirements of each of these awards, go to
www.tennessee.apwa.net or contact Ryan McReynolds, Chairman of the Awards Committee (ryanmcreynolds@kingsporttn.gov).
