Best Tasting Water Contest
Region 2 of the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts TAUD Region 2 quarterly meeting, and the Best Tasting Water Contest, attracted
held their quarterly meeting and annual Best Tasting Water ninety-nine attendees. Below are representatives of NE Knox Utility District, winners of

Service. Ninety-nine people attended the meeting.
Nine water utilities competed for the Region 2 Best Tast-
ing Water title: City of Alcoa, City of Maryville, First Utility
District of Knox County, Hallsdale Powell Utility District,
Knox Chapman Utility District, Lenoir City Utilities Board,
Northeast Knox Utility District, Tellico Area Services
System, and West Knox Utility District. The water samples
from each of the utilities were judged by a panel composed
of Craig Ingram (TN 811), Seth Rye (Rye Engineering) and
John West (TDEC Water Pollution Control).
Northeast Knox Utility District came away as the winner.
They will advance to the statewide competition as the Re-
gion 2 representative. The statewide winner will advance to
“The Great American Water Taste Test” in Washington, DC.
Updates on legislation and other topics associated with
water and wastewater utilities were provided by represen-
tatives from TAUD, TDEC, and others. A brief technical
program from Guthrie Sales was followed by an inspiring
talk by Bob Bell, Manager and host on WRJZ radio. The
attendees were then treated to a wonderful lunch and song
from Classy Threads & Catering.
