Crossville’s Public Works Department helps ensure that the city is a wonderful place. The Public Works
Department has a multitude of duties: the low pressure sewer maintenance, water maintenance, grinder pump
systems, fire hydrants, cemetery graves, street right-of-way maintenance, sidewalks, traffic signals, drainage,
street signs, street cleaning, snow removal, various road projects, garbage can replacement, groundskeeping,
and mechanical/vehicle maintenance. In order to preserve the beauty and maintenance of Crossville, the
Public Works Department meticulously chooses equipment to fulfil the job that is needed.
Crossville’s fleet includes a CAT 416D Backhoe, 420E Backhoe, D4C Bulldozer, 12H Motor Grader, 304CR Mini
Excavator, 299 D2 Compact Track Loader, and a recent purchase of a 926M Wheel Loader. The team stated,
“We chose CAT equipment for a number of reasons: the resale value, the comfort of their machines, and the
durability. Since 1996, we have had the CAT 12H Motor Grader, which is a testimony on the durability. Also, we
chose our local CAT dealer because of the service they provide their customers. Our local dealer helps us find
what we need to adequately serve the City of Crossville. ”
Currently, the Public Works Department is using their 926M Wheel Loader to help build a storage unit for the
city’s fleet. It will be used for projects that involve construction, waste management, or landscaping.
